I have make different females for the male fader, RD BP and KKp, finally i find the female zz seem to show some interest to the male. While the male fader also shake the head, anxious to break the glass divider to meet the female mate...And they seem to be a good pair. After take the divider off, they only in peace for a short time, then the male fader became angry and began to attack the female zz. After the fight, they became to stay calm and the tank looks like nothing happened. They chased, played, cleaned the dish(only the famale did that). The female gradually droped the tube. Then suddenly the male attacked the female again. The process repeated over over and over again ...
The female always show some interest to the cruel male fader even been seriously attacked minutes ago. What's wrong with these two guy?
I've got some question
1>Must I use egg crate to divide them? how about glass divider?
2>If everything is OK,Temperature, Food, filter, air pump, egg plate, water condition ,BUT only the tank is a little small. Will this make the breed fail?
3>How can i prove this male is fertile . ANY tips?
I have sold the male, for only $18,while it is cheap, but it's in CHINA...
And i still want to know the reason. Thanks!!!

1. shouldent matter

2. they probly were ment for eachother(dont take this wrong)

3. if they female lays eggs and you watch him fertilize them like 5-6 time i drop the hammer

only time will tell if they will breed with eachother.

I would say if theyre cleaning the plate and getting along even as good as they are, there a good chance the female isnt ready to lay eggs yet and the male is getting impatient. i would give it a few more weeks and if the male keeps acting aggressive keep the divider up with the plate next to it until shes ready, although u did say the tube is out so she might be ready now. the tank is a little on the small side for that male but it shouldnt be too small to prevent them from breeding,

How can i understand they probably were ment for each other?:grinno:
thanks to help figure out the questions...
i also think the male was impatient while the famale swam around the dish and cleaned it. Although the famle has dropped the tube, but not ready to lay eggs immediately. Then the male lead the attack...
The female once laid eggs about five month ago without the male FH, she's 2 years old and well feeded with my homemade pellet.
I will keep updated

yea keep us posted. I would use an egg crate divider instead of the glass tho because it will block water flow and the male wont be able to fertilize properly if he remains aggressive until spawning. Check out my post if your still up.. Ive been trying to breed my red dragon flowerhorns but im having trouble with an aggressive male too. heres the link: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=363694

I dont know if this would work for you guys but I had a Jack Dempesy like that. What I did was put a mirror on the side of the tank. When the male saw his reflection he got mad at it but he got very protective of the female, and they spawned a couple of days later.

What a wonderfull idea, u are really genius, i will make a try...
In this way if i put another cichlid into the breeding tank, will it do the same thing?
