3yr+ update.
About 5-6" now. It wasn't until the last 8+ months that I started feeding with lights out. Since then, it's really grown and is super thick. At least I know it's still growing. Should've fed like this 3 yrs ago. This lil guy has survived a couple of tank disasters that have wiped out my stock. Had him in my backpack all day while at the amusement park with my kids the day I picked him up. Good times. Resilient lil dude.
