Got my black aros

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I really don't want to lose the small one. How long can it survive without food?

My friend's aro (red banjar) took 5 weeks before it started to eat something, aros can starve for quite some time from what I've read.
Did you ask the seller what he used to feed them ?

Another idea would be to take out your other fishes and only have the 3 aros in this tank, that's something my LFS always recommend when he sells an aro.

Cheers.

Took out the bass after a few days. They've had the 150 to themselves for the past 2+ weeks. The seller told another mfker that informed me of them that they were pellet trained. After closer inquiry I found out they were "just starting" to accept pellets. Don't think he had them eating anything honestly.

My suggestion is, put the bass back with the 2 aros thats eating pellets. And put the one aro that's not eating pellets by himself. Give him whatever he wants to eat, meal worms, crickets, feeder fish. So that way u can get him plump and healthy for pellet training. It'll also help u know exactly if he's eating or not Becuz there won't be anyone else possibly eating the food. Ones u believe he's nice and healthy, start the starvation/pellet training

Ok I've thought of doing this myself as well. I should have my 360 up and running by this sunday. I'll put the two aros that are eating in there and leave the one thats not in the 150 by himself.

So where u live bro? I'm in Summerlin, do u know drew? He knows every fish guys in Vegas lol

Got my last black eating today. I bought 30 crickets from petsmart this morning and tossed 9 in. This afternoon all 9 are still in the tank. This discouraged me a bit and while i was feeding my tigrinus tilapia i wondered if that black would eat shrimp. I dropped in a small piece and after i finished feeding my tigrinus it was gone  I thought to myself it must have gotten sucked up in one of the filters, so i cut up another 3 pieces and tossed them in. within 30 seconds the aro dove towards the bottom where the shrimp was sitting and devoured all 3 pieces :headbang2

glad that it's eating something now, but still have to pellet train it!

Good to hear:thumbsup:
