Got My Co2 Diffuser Setup!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How exactly does one come up with 1 and 1/3:D
Just kidding.......glad its working.Keep up the updates.

Well, My filter broke the other day!!!! I'm so mad!! Anyway, I went out and got a Cascade 1000 canister filter. It says up to 100Gal tanks, so I figured it's more that enough. Now my question is, If I were to put the Co2 tubing from the 2liter bottle into the intake of the filter would that be better for diffusing it? I figured it would be okay, because it is a closed system, but I wanted to make sure. What does everyone think??

Feeding air into a cannister filter is going to eventually cause the impeller and/or the motor to fail on you. It takes many months to wear it down, but it will happen. If I were you, I would stick with the diffuser you have setup right now.

Okay, thanks for the quick reply! I will stick with the one I have right now.

One more question, How does the Co2 break the Motor/Impeller?

It's just because it requires more energy for the impeller to break down the air bubbles into smaller bubbles to circulate it into the regular water. Over time, the "abrasiveness" of the air will start to wear on the motor. And for the impeller itself, it will actually snap off the little prongs - and when you have a plastic prong swilling around in there....well, you know what would probably happen.

Now It's been, I think 3 weeks, all the algea on my anubias have depleted from existance, but the algea is back and growing on the back of my tank. The Crypts are growing very good. The Wisteria is growing ok, I don't think that is has gotten any taller, but it is sending off more stalks at the gravel line. My green Ozelot sword is sending out a new leaf every week.

I'm having troubles with the filter floss getting all slimy.... Any suggestions on how to get rid of it, other than cleaning it off?

GOOD LUCK WITH THAT CO2. I HAD THE A SIMILIAR SET UP AND IT WORKED FOR A GOO WHILE BUT IT QUIT ON ME.
