Got my first arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ray and aros go very well. Ray does not need sand. i have motoro living in peace with several silver aros. Bichir is a good tank mate and so are fancy plecos

Use freeze dried bloodworms not frozen. The freeze dried float and are easily removed if not eaten.

Hi y'all. I'm the GF in this situation with the aro. :-) I'm so excited to even be able to say that I have one!

But anyhow, when we got him/her we were told that the store had had a few problems getting the fish to eat regularly, didn't know if they were stressed from the shipping or what exactly, so the feeders were a PLEASE DON'T DIE!!

He/she's eating well now so we are going to try getting a different diet going now. Should the Hikari Aro/Carnivore Pellets be available at Petsmart/Petland? Or should we get some from somewhere online?

Thanks a million for all the comments! We both really are excited about our Aro!

Petland should have Hikari Sticks and Carnivore pellets.

I have never seen them at Petsmart.

I bought the Hikari Aro Pellets at Petland. But here is a link of another online place you can buy it from:

my aro was raised on hikari aro sticks and market shrimp (without shell) he is 7-8 months old and 20" long. but i agree get the aro sticks, mine ate them within an hour of being let out of the bag into his tank

Well i tried something yesterday with the frozen bloodworms, submerging the cup and the bloodworms seemed to float better this way, and he ate everything that floated.

Will stop by petland on the way home and get some Hikari and Some freeze dried bloodworms. Thanks for all the help guys. Now time to find a baby freshwater ray.

just a heads up, the hikari aro sticks are expensive but it is cheaper in the long run to buy the big bag
