So I've been building an odd ball type tank with my 55 gal (soon to be 120+gal) and I thought to myself, I have 2 Bichir's, a dojo loach, a rope fish and just ordered a dragon goby. Now all that was missing was an eel. So I got myself an Peacock Eel. I have been reading and found that they are a good starter eel. So I got one! He is 6 inches and very fun to watch very energetic, is this normal or is my eel...."special":screwy:..... either way I love eels now!

in my experience, I've always found the eels active! Peacocks are great. get to about 30cm/12" . enjoy it!

I think hand feeding/associateing humans with food. Makes a huge difference in most spineys, and tank-mates. Enjoy your eel!

Just to note, Dragon Gobys require a brakish tank, while the rest of your stock, do not.

Got a baby albino polypterus the other day. He has already jumped out of the tank, was fine after. Today he's not really moving about staying in the same place. I don't know much about them, is this normal?

I have 2 polpterus one senagel and one ornate they usually like to float on the top of the tank then come down to hang out under the wood and search around their tank for blood worms. They are awesome to watch.

The Dragon goby I've been told can actually handle fresh water as long as there is aquarium salt (I have a friend who has 2 for the past year and a half) and thats how my tank is already set up, so he should be fine.

Not really.. In FW mine would last on average 1.5 years. In BW my DG's lasted 4 years until I sold them. From my experience they will live in FW, but not a full life.
