I was at my lfs and saw a strawberry aro. I've always wanted a silver aro but never went for it. I saw the strawberry and barely resisted the impulse buy. I went home read about them. I know the color fades but I don't care. I wanted it. I spent like 7 hours tearing down other tanks and figuring out what I had to get rid of to get it. I went to the store with a bucket of about 50 fish and brought it home. It's in a 150 gallon stock tank with a tetra 250 pond filter and whisper ap150 air pump. I have 2 300 watt heaters keeping it right around 83. Right now I have window screen and about 20 spring clips holding it on.

I'd suggest some kind of lid/cover if you don't already have one. Out of the 10 or so ive had lately i think i lost 4 due to jumping out from a small opening or actually pop the lidd off when getting spooked, if you know all this i apologize for the story time, I'm just going off i see its open

Great advice!

I finally got a few pics of the thing . Cleaned up how I had everything set up too. Watched it jump out of the water a few times while I was waiting for it to swim by where I had the camera set up, it couldn't even get it's whole body out. It's still a little weak from all the moves, but is already putting on weight. Been eating freeze dried baby shrimp since the night I got it home.

I didn't like the tetra pond filter I was using so I built an overhead sump out of a windowsill planter. I set it up so that the heater is in the bottom of the planter and there is a 12" bendable bubble wall between the heater and all the media. It causes a little gurgling but I'm ok with it. It's just mocked up in use for the Pic. I haven't glued the pvc yet because I'm still tweaking it but the filter is working well. And it's so much easier to just replace the polyfil and not have to open that tetra pond filter box and make mess every time you clean it. I'm using 3/4" pvc for the outlets now, I think I'm gonna upgrade to 1" before I seal everything in. I was out of silicone when I put this together. I didn't feel like going to the store so I used hot glue.20230326_162606.jpg20230325_141723.jpg
