Congrats on your pickup. Like bigfishsmallpond said, be sure to have some driftwood in there. Also there is no need to freeze or blanch the veggies. Stick a stainless fork through it to weigh it down and throw it in. The veggies are soft enough the way they are. If you dont believe me look at his mouth when it's on the glass sometime. I have never blanched the veggies for my royal and he's doing fine a year and a half later. They NEED driftwood in their diet. It is vital for digestive purposes.

my commons will eat zuchini, wafers, squash, and cucumbers. but will also go after the veggies I feed to the Pacus like celery, bell pepper, etc.

yeah they poo alot. its not too bad for the water but dont look too good with alot of brown stuff in the bottom of the tank..
