you'll even notice the play sand from home depot/lowes stick to rays once in a while too. usually they're pretty clean of it, unless recently buried which is almost never, but when doing a water change, their slime coat seems to beef up and tons of sand will stick to them for a bit after that. guessing it's to help cope with the change in water temp.
