Got my new Argentine Tegu!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A shame that green doesn't stay, they are so cute with it! But equally as gorgeous as monochromatic adults!
Awesome pick up with that beauty!

Thanks, I love the green too. I'm taking a lot of pictures of her because before you know it she'll be hibernating. Then she'll grow like a weed. :D

Awesome lizard! They're so cool when they reach adulthood. I got to interact with an adult one a few months ago. They're such funny animals.

Ahhh...if I only had the room for one...

Take lots of pictures when it's small because the above statement is more true than we ever realize. Mine literally put on 1.5" per WEEK for several weeks in it's second summer...

Gorgeous animal... great choice in species... great choice in breeders...

What are your plans for a long term enclosure?

Thanks, she is so cute when she is soaking. She has her legs all sprawled out and just rest in the water.

Thanks, I'm glad I waited and went with Bobby. She just ate some hard-boiled egg and some tomato. After she comes out of hibernation she is going to be in my 4 x 2 x 2 tank in the spring. Till I can work on her 8 x 3 x 3 enclosure in summer.

She is doing good, grew another 6-7" and put on a good amount of weight, she is probably around 16-17" total. She lost the green color on her head, but still has the greenish tint when the light hits her back just right. She loves to be handled and she'll take naps in my hoodie/pockets while I'm on the computer or doing homework. I'll try to get some pictures this weekend and I'll post them up.

AHHH I remember those days what a year ago? lol

Congrats on the purchase! you will love that little girl they really do grow on you and that's not just a statement. I took pictures every two months and the growth was huge these guys can eat too so be prepared for that. When my tegu was small she(yes found out he is a she) would sleep on my computer too or on my arm in the mornings. They are cute when their little enjoy it while it lasts!

Oh and I hope you plan on taking pictures of that enclosure when you build it.

nice tegu...mind if I ask a general tegu question? Do ALL species of tegu need plants in their diet? I would love if I could find a completely carnivorous one whose diet would not change with age.
