First of all such an interesting journal of your tank, so sorry about what has happened and the many tragedies. Keep the green terror and rehome the Oscar, he can be kept in your tank size and is the best option.

Thanks! Learned so much from this site. Still not sure what caused the tank to crash originally, but knock on wood since then it’s literally been perfect and have had zero tank-deaths….only fish being eaten . I’ve played with so many different filters, media, etc. etc. and really have it dialed. I do a 90% water change every 2-3 weeks and my nitrates are never above 15-20 which is when I change it. The all sponge media in the filter has been amazing and can literally go 2-3 months and it still is flowing great! That setup by far has kept nitrates down the most. I’ve really enjoyed it! Hate to see the Oscar go as I really enjoy him but I know it’s best. My LFS will gladly take him. Crazy the GT beat him up being less than half his size!

That green terror will be king of the tank. Love his progress. They are slower growers compared to other cichlids but well worth it.

Oscar has been rehomed! My LFS was so impressed with him that they said they do not want to sell him! Stuck him in an 8 ft tank to keep and even wrote his name on the side of it!!

What would be a good group of dither, fish or schooling fish that I could put in with the green terror?

Or an alternative, with a couple of Severums be OK with a green terror?

I know they are supposed to be more peaceful in the Oscar was the one instigating the fights, not the green terror.

In a 75, I definitely wouldn’t be tossing any more cichlids in there. With size, the gt is going to find less and less sharable space in the tank.
For dithers, you can try larger tetras like Congos or Buenos Aires, but a 4 foot tank won’t offer much room for escape.

I added 4 Bosemani Rainbow’s and 6 Tiger Barbs!

So….

1 - Green Terror
1 - Featherfin Catfish
1 - Bichir
6 - Tiger Barbs
4 - Bosemani Rainbows

I’m actually just noticing one Tiger Barb disappeared…..?? I swear the GT is not big enough to eat these yet….maybe he’ll turn up lol! I’m confused there. Maybe he did though….!

But super happy with it, looks awesome and I think that’s a good stocking.

I’ll get pictures tomorrow!

If the barbs are small enough, the bichir may be the culprit of the missing barb.
