There's my male at 5 inches. I want to address your feeding question. You do not have to feed frozen everyday but fairly often to keep great color. There are a lot of colors that these fish display and it varies from fish to fish. Just make sure you keep shrimps in there diet or the colors will fade. My nics seem to color up no matter what size after a month or two of a good diet. Good luck and have fun with these guys they are a blast.

Wow he looks amazing for a 5in fish! To think he might grow twice that size, then imagine what he will look like. Thanks for the info about feeding. I've been feeding them 2-3 times a day with NLS with sprinula and frozen foods thrown into the mix every other or every 2 days. I will proabaly feed them less often when they get bigger.

Beautiful male VW.

I got mine at about 1.5". No color and they looked identical.

I feed Flake in morning and Hikari Cichlid Gold, krill, shrimp pellets, or earthworn pellets in eve. Never tried frozen food with any of my cichlids,

I tried fresh market shrimp and that didnt go over very well.

Which frozen do you reccomend.

I feed mine brine shrimp and blood worms alternatively. My fliers like blood worms alot. I tried this marine carnivore diet but they didn't like that much at all. I heard mysis shrimp is really good for them. I would like to do live brine shrimp for them eventually.

Brine shrimp, mysis shrimp and krill for frozen. I also do live "ghost shrimp about once a week sometimes less though. Thanks for the compliment. And he's about 6 and a half inches now. And looking great.

No problem

Just for fun a few more pics. She is really coming along and is coming out all the time now. She still stays in one part of the tank and only at the bottom. hopefully she will start eating from the surface. the other one in the quarentine tank isn't looking as hot. hopefully he will pull through.
