Got some orinos!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So i went up to the tank to see them today and the smaller one was dead! I noticed the larger one was nibbling on it. I couldn't get anymore P-basses to spread the aggresion because my LFS didn't have any so I just kept those 2. But when I looked at the dead one it was significatly smaller than the alive one like a one inch longer than the dead one. The dead one wasn't eating anything feeders, bloodworms, pelets, krill, brine shrimp it didn't eat any of those. So it's death was kinda inevitable. The alive one on the othert hand gobbled everything I just listed so it is not going to die anytime soon. I think the death was a aggression issue not a water issue because I did 25-50% water changes every 1-2 days on the tank and ammonia, nitrates and nitrite is zero.

I also have a grow out with 2x Orino with 3.5" and 3x Channa Pleuropthalma with 3,5". I used to have 2x Cichla Temensis and 1x Cichla Kelberi but my dominate Orino killed all 3 of them :(

Try to keep your water changes at 25% max, and maybe less frequent, once a week should be fine, every 4 days at most. Young bass cannot tolerate big changes in water parameters. I don't think you need to worry about ammonia or nitrates with such small fish unless the tank is too small and you're feeding too much. Do you still have the convicts in that tank too?
