If he didn't go to the doctors- then what he can do is get a needless syringe, and flush it out with some saline.

Use alcohol/peroxide to clean the wound- bag balm would also not hurt.

Rub iodine/betadine around the wound as it will pull the oils and such out of the skin to prevent further infection.
