Well we found wonderful peices of wood that long ago was cut
And pushed out of ground to dry for me to find. :D
Nice thing was the roots came out in balls and since it is a cory
all tree were root bound badly by rocky ground.
Made for really interesting root designs.

I just went yesterday have done nothing to them.
bark is covering alot of twisted roots in bottom of most pics.

We are going to clean all and sell.
If there is enough interst in the wood.
If you like one and want it held let me know (pm) or @
ddyerfamily@yahoo.com

If you like to clean yourself.....YourWAY that is even better.
no prices yet, looking at alot of work on some of them.
I would guess around $10-30 depend on size.(+shipping of course)
Well let me know if like these or can look for special size/shapes.

feedback on these please.good or bad...I just want to know if
I am waisting my time Or should I post on Buy and Sell ?????????

I'm going to move this to the buy sell section for you.

As per the rules...

- A price and location MUST be posted, along with whether or not shipping is available, or the item is for local sale only.

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/fo...ad.php?t=45472

You need to list a price for each piece.

Now, a few problems I see with this wood. One they are not drift/bog wood, and have not been water logged. It will take many months if not years (depends on the wood) to get them to sink. The other major problem is that as roots they were encrusted with dirt, which retains water, and many of the pieces will have rotted, which will wreak havoc on a tank.

the smooth bark makes me thing they are beech or ash. which may not be a good sign, as they have a lot of sap within that supports internal fungal growth. and a lot of fungi are boiling water resistant.

I will clean and any rotten cut away or pitched altogether.
just got these yesterday so...still bark,dirt...nasties sorry.

I can or buyer can attach slate to wood to sink.
I just put big rocks on most of mine till they stay down.
Tannis (spelling) leaching in water will stop in time.
can soak to leach out, but water weight and shipping !
no one wants to wait for them to dry either.:) before shipping.

These peices have been wet and dry over and over so cracks are in wood.
here in pics are wet from rain. The cory is mostly desert like.

As far as shipping: I live in Fairborn,Ohio 45324. I can ship no problem.
Prices will vary because of sizes and weights.(shipping)
will bargain so pricing is useless all start at $10 dirty + shipping.
cleaned is $20-$40 + shipping

I have more not pictured and able to get more.

How are things boiling resistant, if the highest temp. recorded where life can exist, is below boiling. Just wondering...

Wait...there are living organisms that live in hot springs right? I'm pretty sure there are many organisms that live or even thrive in extreme temperatures.

yup. think the hottest temp is in a completely different ecosystem to ours... see if i can find specifics.

yup. think the hottest temp is in a completely different ecosystem to ours... doesn't rely on sunlight as its source. Life survives in sulpherous volanic springs in deep sea, can't remember the exact temp or any specific details, but think it was about 80 degrees.
I saw that show on Discovery
could have been Animal planet :)

I agree boiling and or DILUTED bleach would kill bugs, rot, mildew, mosses e.i...
don't forget all the SCRUBBING AND SOAKING.:irked:

side thought salt would work too.

lol i edited my post as i thought my memory might have been hazy...
But it is from the sulphides they generate the energy, and it is temperatures of up to 80 degrees celcius, and before it was thought that no living organism could survive such temps. Pretty amazing... probably on BBC mate, it is mentioned in the Blue Planet series... second episode, I'm watching it as we speak.
