I recommend a pressure washer, no soap of course, it would blow of the bark and dirt. Nice pieces of wood though, I've been collecting down here in WV myself.

davo- do you consider fungal spores as living organisms?
anyway, being that they are in the wood, water would not remain at boiling temperature by the time it reaches them regardless.

i'm always looking for more driftwood, but i'm not such a fan of gnarled bunches. you'll have to look for pieces that are larger than what you want because stripping away the bark and some of the softwood will bring it down to size. a piece like #7 except with a longer section after the joint (thick branch) would be something i would be interested in.

I can look for you next time.
what size tank do you have ?
How thick ? diameter ? rough guess some inches.
more branches or keep simple like #7 ?

I have only found 1 like these pics.
boat load of work scrubbing lots of branches.
dug this one down to heartwood it looks awesome ! :headbang2

I might sell for right price...:naughty: ...but shipping would be difficult due too size.
pick only.....Ohio
hurry on this cause once it's in water it stays.:D

For those wanting the cactus - it's sold at pet stores in the REPTILES section.

Nice wood! I myself would want thicker pieces, too. If you can get me some Tank READY thicker wood, with competitive prices I'll take a good bunch off your hands.
