Aquaponics is nothing new. You could easily DIY a setup (search the forum, there are already posts about it).
The article is more about art than anything else. Definately not a case of art merging with practicality. An answer to the local food problem? Yeah because buying a couple of expensive (poorly designed for aquaponics from what I can see) glass setups from some artist and sticking a plant or 2 on top is going to do that.
Seems to be poorly executed. The tanks don't look healthy (I wouldn't want a big tank full of dirty water with some unhealthy looking fish in it if I paid good money to some artist....) and I don't see much plant matter being grown.
Don't mean to be negative, it just seems a bit silly and pretentious.
