Governor cutting funding for zoos and aquariums!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
maybe they should stop pouring money into NASA until we can take care of our own world. Then maybe cut back on steroid investigations and supreme court time on perjury in sports. our founding fathers are rolling over in thier graves.

^^ definitely agreed. we dont even know all of our own world. why do we need to explore out of it already? that would cut billions :D

i agree with everything said, but honestly, i think cutting on aquariums/zoos budgets isn't all that bad. Right now, our economy is really bad. If we continue like this, we won't be able to feed ourselves, so how are we going to feed animals?

the CI aquarium is working on an Amazon wing! they cant do that! not NOW!!
 :irked:

They used to have one a while back. Then it became the test exhibit for a dolphin husbandry exhibit. Where is this wing being built? Under the right steps to the aquatheater?

I just heard about this today as well. Got the email from the NYA docent office. :(

cutting aquarium and zoo funding is bad because now we're making it worse for the animals that can't fight for themselves just so we have it a bit better. somehow thats not right

Nah, the animals still get the care they need. Services being cut back are guest services. At the NYA, for example, the docent program has been discontinued Fridays, so volunteers won't be around to educate the visitors. Personally, I don't see why they didn't cut Monday or Tuesday instead. Fridays are usually more busy than the other weekdays.
