I personally dont like going with the bargain brands on the important stuff. My motto is "Pay for the good stuff, and youll only cry once"

im the same way... but im not paying for it.... she found it and wants a pink garmin but they are like 300$..... she asked me and im asking here

asus makes computer parts and they are good at it, but haven't heard about the quality of its gps systems, garmin is a better quality when it comes to a simple gps gadget

i told her its up to her.... passed the info on to her.... thanks for the replies... if they make good computer parts i cant see it being really bad...

Garmin all the way. Think of accessories, map software and resale. Here is a cool forum to help her pick the right one. Good luck http://gpsinformation.biz/phpBB2/

Thats a really good point! Compatibility, accessories, user support. This will all become more important as years go by.
Once she gets the pink one is she going to need a car to match? I know thats how it goes with my wife and shoes/purses!

I would only buy Garmin. They have the cheaper 200 series. I have the 660 and it works excellent. The new 7 and 8 series are very very slow but have voice recognition. I would highly reccomend the 660 because it is very quick to calculate destinations. The down side is that the updates are $69.99. My suggestion is also to get the updates in disc form. I updated once from their website and lost all previous data. The Garmin is by far, top notch. Here is a link to the site if interested.
