Thanks everyone, your right big Dave,100 per cent Hystrix, ive had the parents longer than the Marbles, they live alone so theres no question, both the male and female have very bold markings but this pup is something else, she was the only pup the first time albeit a big one,12cm disc, the second time she had two slightly smaller ones, one of each sex, unfortunately they were slightly premature with large yolk sacs attached, these both burst and sadly i lost them,i was devastated,Hystrix rays for me are the nicest pups, very cute. The male copulated with the female just before they were ready,i feel that that was the cause.I have pictures somewhere of the dead fish, again the markings were so strong,it hurts to look at them, however if i can hunt them out some time i will show them to you, perhaps when she produces again and it doesnt feel as painful.

maybe the market has had its fill of black rays and is moving onto AAA MMs! :)

I think Black rays are very special fish,i love them all, what a fantastic contrast they make with MM in any aquarium,i feel they compliment one another,i wouldnt say Mm are inferior in any way to them, you either like the blacks or the browns, its personal choice,i personally prefer Marbmles and Pearls, the patterns are more diverse,..those BDs that are coming in look a bit special though dont they?

Hi Richard

Nice to see some updated pics of the pups. They are looking great. The patterns on all the rays are amazing. I hope you get some more pups soon.
