Yes he bought them of someone when they were fry and the spawn had ebjd fry in it.

If it was BGJDxBGJD, there'd also be EBJD fry amongst them. Can you ask what parents the so called BGJDs are from? Whether or not one or both of the parents are BGJD? If both the parents are BGJD, don't buy them. If one of the parents was an EBJD, buy them.

Okay. What is the problem if both parents were ebjd though? Does that mean they could yield fry without the gene ?

No, if both parents are EBJD then the fry would be EBJD. 'Cept it's not very common for that to happen, as fry produced from a EBJDxEBJD cross is very, very weak. Basically almost none survives.

If both parents were BGJD, offspring 50% will be BGJD 25% EBJD and 25 % Regular JD. Normally BGJD are not really known as being docile like the EBJD.
