Grain free, All fish based protien dog food, for big fish?

I feed dog and cat food to my fish with no issues,,to offest the cost of feeding monster sized fish.. My only suggestion if not eaten immediately remove uneaten nuggets ....oil film on water
here's what I feed to my catfish and ciclids on a supplementary basis..


Protein: 25% Fat: 15%
Calories: 3,600 kcal/kg (360 kcal/cup) Calculated Metabolizable Energy
Available in 5lb, 15lb and 30lb bags.
Ingredients

Truthfully, if I trusted purina more, I would. Remember the dog food recall? I treated several animals poisoned by that. So sad to tell owners you just fed your dog poison, and there is nothing more we can do. I trust very few dog and cat food brands at this point... :( And I haven't even been able to find the ingredients list yet.

Any pet foods or pet food ingredients from China, I'd be careful of.
This wasn't too long ago.........HBH Pet Products is recalling certain fish food for pets that were found to contain melamine:nilly:

I've considered the high quality grain-free dog foods for fish food. But reading the guaranteed analysis they tend to be WAYYY too high in fat, which I think is probably not good for fish.

My carnivore pellets list 5.0% fat min. while the dog foods generally list 12% or higher. That canidae lists %20 min.

I've always heard it's bad to feed high fat diets to fish due to the way they metabolise food, so I'd stay away from it.

That's my big concern. I was really hoping to find another grain free diet that had as high of protein content and less fat. So far, the only one I've found had 18.5% fat, and glucosamine in the diet. Not really what I wanted.

I was thinking if I combined this with other stuff, that I might be able to get their diets overall fat content to an exceptable level. Does anyone know of another diet that is grain free, has less fat, and still high levels of protien?

I wasn't aware of this recall, but I make a big effort to not buy my feed from China. As long as I'm up to date, the only animal food I buy that is made in China are the Hikari frozen blood worms. Everything else is made in Japan or the US.
 
If I were looking to feed monsters more economically, I would look to commercial fish food, rather than dog food.

It comes in 40 or 50 lb bags, is the correct fat to protein ratio, is made for specific species, and well, the FDA approves it to be fed to fish intended for human consumption. Might not be grain free, but farmers are serious about healthy, quick growing livestock.
