like allways i thinking of new cichlids to get for my tank when it finally get it but i've heard that these fish have a pretty wide range of aggression so i was woundering what every ones fish are like and how aggressive they are and what tankmates you have them with salvini and grammodes look so great

I found that my salvini grew more aggressive as he grew larger, once he hit the five inch mark he became very territorial. Despite this, I kept it in a community tank with keyhole cichlids, hoplos, and corys, and so long as everyone respected his space he was fine.

I have a 3 inch female holding her own in a 125g with a 13 inch oscar, 8 inch Tex, and a 4 inch JD. She is the runt, but does very well, and doesn't take much guff, given the circumstances. If she was larger, I would worry about the subdom fish.

i have a wild caught female sal about 5 inches, she is not overly aggressive unless her cave is invaded, then she gives chase. i also have a pair of grammodes alone in a 55, the male is 4 in. the female 3 in. they are paired and digging pits all over the tank but nothing so far. there was a cutteri in there i couldnt catch so they caught it for me.

hmm so there aggression comes with age dang i was hopeing to look and see if some are chasing others and if some are just chilin whe'll i think i may just have to get them and see ow aggressive they turn out i'm worried about the grammode fighting with my jaguar cichlid anybody keep those two togeather

no body keeps grammodes with other cichlids then ?

My salvini is absolutely nuts! Even at 3" he was killing off tankmates double the size of him. He goes crazy when he sees other fish. The only tankmate I have ever been able to keep with him was a convict and a Brochis. Hopefully he will take nicely to the A. Diadema SMS is giving me.

I've had to move a female convict and a female Rainbow cichlid to a 29g otherwise my Male Grammodes would have killed them. He tore them up pretty good, well him and my Fem Carpinte. He's beginning to show teeth now actually :D. I've had the Grammodes about 3 months now and he's grown maybe an inch longer and about half an inch thicker. He will run from my Carpinte and chases my Leporinus when it gets too close. I have seen him strike at my Carpinte only once and put a split on the Caudal fin then back down and hide. I have yet to see my Grammodes do a thing to my Gold Severum.

Every time i look at my Grammodes i just love his colors. I can see that i may have to find a tank for himself eventually though.

so are male and female grammodes equally aggressive? and the same with salvini ?

thanks for the info i'm still not sure if i'm going to get one i really wan't them though

also does anybody keep these two together

and one last question is $8 a good price for a grammode
