I believe my male was around 3 " when they 1st bred, female smaller. When they pair up you will know, because the other 3 will start to look more and more ragged, or you will find carcasses.
Once these 2 paired up, nothing else in the was safe, nothing else could stay alive in the tank for long.

Thanks!!! I watch mine every day they are very friendly and I hope they stay that way. I have heard that they are often shy. I will have to make sure to have a tank ready so when two of them pair up I can get the others out. I have been told they are hard to breed but they are so pretty they are worth it.

In my case, once they became a pair, that was it. They did all the work, spawned twice, and were great parents. I let the temp cool down after 2 spawns, which stopped them from breeding, didn't want them to burn out.
Wonder if the parading of the male is a prelude to this years breeding season, she has also darkened up quite a bit, which is a spawning color.
