grammodes dither disappointing disaster

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Remove the grammy for a day or two (if possible) and rearrange all the scaping. leave the new dithers in there. I recommend small convicts (male) and silver dollars. Throw him back in a few days.

This will give the grammy less to get worked up about. I do it all the time when introducing milder fish to a very dominant fish.

i dont know if i got lucky, but i have two silver dollars in with my grammode pair. neither grammode pays any attention to the them

How big are your Grammodes pair and what size tank are they in? I've recently separated my Grammy from the community tank because she's just not a team player. She stays in the center of a 265 gallon tank and attacks anything and everything she sees, shredding fins and sending scales flying. I consider her the equivalent of the Tasmanian Devil from those old Bugs Bunny cartoons. Anyone want to take her off my hands?

Here are some pics of the grammode in question.

I have 3 3" SDs in 75g with a breeding pair of jags. The male jag is 9". So far no casualties despite going right in the jags mouth after food, staring right in the face of the male jag, etc. They are so dumb that I think the jags pity them and dont kill them.

And that has what to do with Grammodes?

He was looking an alternative dither for his fish which is close to jags in terms of agression and diet, so I told my experience with SDs. See the connection?

Or simply for you: I recommend SDs.

Oh I see. SD's usually make awesome dithers but my 4" Grammy really messed up 2 of my 5-6" Redhook SD's. :irked: One of them didn't survive. The best dither for Grammodes IMO are Filament Barbs. They're similar to Tinfoil barbs but only get 5-6" max size and are very very quick when they need to be.

tell me about filaments speed. tried to catch my 3 to give to a friend and could i hell catch them. my loaches are easier lol.

male is 5" and female 3". they are all in a 40g. i put a blood parrot in there last week to see what would happen, and the male gave him a nice beating, so i know they are still aggressive, i just dont know why they ignore the SD's.

It's a shame that I have to sell mine. I don't have an individual tank that I can give them unless they could live in a 20-long but I know better.
