3. 75 gal is enough for a pair of either species but not together.

Am I missing something here.

I bought mine with the understanding (and preparation) that one pair required a minimum of 120 gallon setup. I bought a 135 G (6x2x2) specifically for when my two cubans are adult @ 16" - 20"! Can two 20" Cuban cichlids really live in a 75G?

I have a baby (<4" now and got it a few months ago just over an inch) Cuban in my 70G growout tank with two other juvenile cichlids & bottom dwellers. He has NOT stopped fighting and usually beating the crap holy out of the 8" spangled pike cichlid and the 5" Butterkoferi Tilapia.

It has never so much as seemingly noticed the two Delhiez Bichirs or three baby yellow bullhead catfish ~ 2 - 3" range.

This is the same fish that I had to remove from a 55G growout at around two inches due to extremely nearly killing my Red hooded Severum (5") and a Polleni Tilapia (4"), while not even giving the two super peaceful Weather Loaches (~12") a second look.

Obviously I havent seen every one ever kept in captivity, but Ive never seen a tetracanthus bigger than about 10". Id say 12" would be pushing it for a full grown male..and Id guess that would even take ideal conditions and 5+ yrs.

If youve seen any bigger than 10-12" on here, please post the link. Id love to see them huge!

I wouldnt do it unless you have or plan on getting another tank incase the fish need to be separated. All the grammodes that I have kept tried to slaughter any other nandopsis ive ever kept with them: salvini, jd's, cubans etc. Might work out in 150 + so they can divide territories, but the 75 is too small.
