they are quite rare, even in the usa unless getting from places like rapps or conkel. ive never seen any for sale over here before, my lfs got me some in but they turned out to be freddies.

im getting myn imported from don conkel in about 4-5weeks times ill have them

damn where'd you stumble upon 9 grammodes at once..? You'll be very lucky keeping 3 alive in that tank for life. Those are some mean fish! Luckily for you, they grow real slow.

LFS in Augusta Georgia. A gentleman that was they before me bought and entire tank of smaller ones and I took what was left in another tank all between 2-3".

J/K.... but these things just hate each other. Perhaps you'll get a nice pair out of it though.

Regarding their appetites, I agree they do not eat well. I think it's the result of them being ambush predators -- they tend to take one bite and leave it at that. I've had good success feeding them larger foods than with other similarly sized fish. For instance, try feeding whole krill.

I remember him, he was awesome. How big and how old was he when he passed?

My male is a pig and will eat any kind of pellet I give him but goes apesh*t over Hikari Carnivore Foodsticks.

I always had a problem keeping a bunch of little ones in a small growout tank because they kill each other off.

Thanks for the comments.... He was definitely over 10" but I didn't measure him when he died. I'll call it 10"+ (certainly not a foot).
