Never had any issues training a FH to eat NLS, and nothing comes out their gills if the pellet size is correct for the size of the fish. My before & after pics can be seen in the following thread.

That male just keeps getting bigger & nicer with each passing month. Fed exclusively on NLS 3mm Large Fish formula.

and they spit it out. It smells like garlic very strong. First time i got a batch that smelled this strong.

Starve em lol. Either you're gonna train the fish, or the fish will train you. I don't mind the smell of garlic, I actually like it lol.
