I had thought of using the term necropsy but felt "autopsy" to be the more comfortable wording, though I do believe necropsy is the more correct term. Thank you for your observation that this may have been a tumor... that would make more sense than a multi year, slow progressing intestinal backup. Could this have caused the internal hemorrhaging? Also, thank you for your tips on further procedures, I hope I don't have to use them for a long time to come.
@FishingOut- There was blood, it was drained when I opened up the body cavity as it had hemorrhaged internally. Thank you for the link, unfortunately though, that is a saltwater fish--their livers are vastly different than freshwater fish from what I've read (but not seen).
