i am having problems with my kyoto grass i was trying to grow, they came in pretty green now they are losing color and looks like they are dying, what could be the possible problems because my sword plant on that side keeps getting brown also, i have used pro plant iron supplement and do 25-30% water changes every week. i also have a sand substrate so should i use a different plant food or a fertilizer to help my plants grow. PLEASE HELP...:(

Howdy,

We need a bit more info on your tank to help you:
  1. what substrate fertilizer do you have
  2. details on other fertilization (frequency, type, brand)
  3. what's your lighting (type, age of bulbs, watts, hours/day)
  4. water chemistry (Fe, NO3, PO4, conductivity, pH, hardness)
  5. water temperature
  6. you said you have sand, how do you aerate (trumpet snails?)

3. 2aquaglow lights 30w for 10hrs aday
4. don't know

6. would bichers eat them if not how to get some.

where did u get the grass im looking for some

petsmart was cheaper then petsco and with better looking plants.

we have answer..#3. 30 watts of light is barely enough to get most grasses to grow in even a 10 gallon. for your 120 gallon you have, if you want a good lawn of real grass to grow, your gonna need prolley around 200 watts of light or more. i would try to get close to 300 if it was me

:iagree: With regular fluorescent, you want to go to 250 W or more. Also, you need to prolong your light period to 12-14 h. Looks like you need to get some more lights. When I had my 80 gal, I ran 4 full-length bulbs ... that's two double light strips :grinyes: The things you do for groundcovers ...

Happy Plantkeeping,
HarleyK
