I use white sand with black backings. My fish look pretty damn awesome this way.

id use black for both or dark blue for both. if it was mine id have to go blackgravel black background.

doesn´t this makes the crap that land on the sand to stand out more, if you know what i mean. How often do you clean the bottom?

I would go with black background and PFS(pool filter sand). I have a tank with black/black and it really drowns the brighter colors.

The lighter colored sand will bring out the lighter colors on your Jag. Your tank lighting will have an affect on their colors too.
