gravel cleaning pest

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Strangely enough, I've been bitten by almost all my fish, except the Jag I had. My oscars have bitten me, my Parrots have bitten me, my Tex has bitten me, and I bled every time... I guess my fish have large teeth?

back when i used to keep c american cichlids and FH's i would make a fist
and try to punch the fish (gently ) to drive them away. Another advantage of this is that your finger doesnt get bit. :irked:

i like sand.. i think its 100 million times cleaner then gravel!

I use sand in my African set up, and there is no waste under the sand, unlike my tanks with gravel, which are usually loaded with waste, even though they get siphoned every week.

you know i was afraid of that when i got my 4 RBP. and suprizing enough they run away from my hand.

I though the same thing too. My rbp turned out to be very shy and timid, never give me trouble why cleaning the tank.

My old oscars, on the other hand, didnt take to kindly to me being in their tank. One of them bit me once and it startled me quite a bit.

all three of my oscars rug against my arm when im doing a gravel vac..i wouldn't consider that being a pest..but..yeah...lol

My Midas/RD hybrid Rose Queen (whatever the heck it is lol..) is brutal with hands in the tank. I now gravel vac wearing Aquagloves to protect my hands. Even him biting through the glove gives some nasty pinches. He really has some decent biting pressure. Maybe its the "hybrid vigor" in my fish but he is brutal. The faster you pull your hand away, the faster he comes at you and the harder he bites....:headbang2

Burt:)

My male convict bit me once but it was my own stupidity.....they were spawning. The bite startled me but he is only like 3" so it didnt do damage.

I have a Red Devil that tries to attack when anyhting is outside his tank but is very tmid when hands go in his tank. On the other hand my male dovii will attack anything within a 10 foot radius of his tank. Anything that hits the water is instantly attacked. He hits the glass so hard he put a two tiny crack in the glass. And him having a babies now dosen't help with his aggression any.
