I just keep up 100 pounds of salmon bay style rocks... from small to mid small. They are a tad bigger then the smaller ones. And Some Sand but not sand sand kinda SMALLer then my smaller gravel but bigger then course sand, but sand size. The question is. If i mix all these type will the smaller peace stay at the bottom from gravel vacing the tank? or Will my bigger size rocks stay at top?

Need to know now before installment.

Umm.... Shoould i clean the gravel first?

First off I don't know what "salmon bay rocks" are.

But, with a mix of large gravel and small gravel or large sand, the small stuff will naturally end up at the bottom and the large will end up on top. When you gravel vac you will mix it up, but it will settle out with the gradation from large on top to small on bottom after the fish move it around etc.

Yes you should rinse all gravel and sand before adding it to the tank....

i cant find it on google... but the bags are from Art Rock. O.o its kinda tan and red. a deep red thats more natural with some dark brown... i was looking for creek but cant find any... im over thinking the hole thing and might just order creek and wait for it to come. it look the best but this stuff looks a little to shinny for me.

In my experience, gravel cleaning with a siphon will leave the fines on top and the heavys at the bottom. The Fish will mix it up with fines tending to settle at the bottom. If your using large stones then put eggcrate down first to protect the glass bottom. When the mix is all larger material on top, time to clean the gravel with a siphon again.

Well i put out on the smaller gravel.. using mid size and smaller size of the same type. I tossed the sandish stuff. here a pic of it now.
