Hey, will bare bottom work if you have another source of biological filtration such as a sump or Fluidized Bed Filters. I always thought gravel was used as a biological filter.

It'll be fine without it. Even though gravel offers beneficial bacteria, it can still be provided through another source.

without, gravel is sooo dirty! or should i say gets dirty SOOO easy.

bare bottoms are easy to clean. In breeder tanks, it is the only way to go.

riding bare is awesome (in my fry tanks). However, I like the look of sand or gravel better, and use it in all my other tanks in the living spaces of my house.

I like sand....bares easy to clean like said.

I prefer bare bottom cuz its easier to clean and the crap usally get sucked into the filter instead of staying in the gravel and getting stirred up by your fish...if you want it to look nice, put some rocks, fake plants, or real plants attached to the rocks or driftwood..:)
