Gravel or no Gravel? What would you guys recomend? And its not "ture" that if you have no gravel that your aros is going to get drop eye correct? If you dont have no gravel then the color of the fish is going to be dull? Need some input.

Correct.

As for the rest, I like my sand. But if I were to remove it someday I would stick with the bare bottom.

With me it depends on the tank, in my 180g with my aros I have very small grade natural gravel. Only about a 1/4 inch, just enough to cover the bottom. I like the bare bottom look, except that it always seems dirty. Even within a couple hours of cleaning you start to see debree collecting on the bottom.

the thing about bear bottom is that it is much easier to clean and therefore is much more hygienic because trapped waste doesnt sit and collect in the gravel for long periods of time. have u ever tried cleaning a gravel filled tank??? it would probably take you double the amount of time. good luck :)

yeah thats why I asked his question..Since the gravel "holds" the bio it means more wc. But I just want to know what other members perfer.:)

oh yeh one more thing. bear bottom also means there is no chance the arowana can scratch itself in the rough surface bottom. although theres a low chance of it happening ive seen scales being scraped straight off.

what does natural gravel look like?? sory for the dull question..:screwy:

what about the color issue for the fish? I know for a fact that if you have gravel then the color is going to be more "bold"..what if I dont have gravel?? would the color be lighter on the fish??:(
