  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
in my first tank with my IT i had a black background and natural sand. he was perfectly stable. he's now in with a black background and a mixture of natural and black sand and still stable. i prefer sand over gravel

either gravel - various sizes & colour or go bare tank , and paint the bottom of tank

or try different coloured sand like black.

WHat signs indicate your datnoids hate sand?

I want to change from sand in my tank, as it gets blasted around all the time, when the tigers are chasing one another. But I'm just too lazy. :)

in my tank the datnoids each have their own spot and beneath it its all bare. so like i have spots of bare tank all over the place, ive covered it up few times and its the same results. so i figured they hate it. so it kinda makes the tank looks like theres something missing.

ive tried bright gravels they hate it, ive tried natural gravel they hate those too. now im on t-grade and having not good results. so im down to last 2. if i get gravels i need to get those larger piece ones some of my bichirs eat gravel when i had it before.

other then the useless comments. those who gave me opinions i appreciate it greatly.

well. i took out my sand today which was pain in the neck but yea its bare tank right now. im gonna give it about few weeks til they settle in with the new environment and i guess ill have to get some black sand. and test that out with some live plants see if they like that.

more opinions are welcomed feel free to flood the thread. LOL

forget gravel then. Maybe bare tank , with some crypo plants tied to small pieces of wood. (small so if tigers hide behind, they are still half visible)

a recent post by Jasoncambs: he got some really cool dark sand, but not as fine as the silver sand use.

If I ever muster the effort to take my sand out, I wold use the stuff he uses. why not pm him.

Post some pics of before and after;)

sand,my datnoids are all stable b/c of the sand its soft
