Im having this same debate with myself right now, I have dovii and I am wondering if white sand will make them "pop" more than black sand (black background of course).

yeah I'm now thinking about that for my Jag. White sand with a black background. Also, after a good rinse with the sand I'm assuming Id have to take the fish out before I add it.
i have black background with black sand and if i had it to do over again i would have went with black background but pool sand or a whiter sand. advantage to black sand is you cant see any poop.
Ok I spent the night painting the back of my tank black and I went to the store and got the spectrum of light I liked best. All I have left to do is get the sand. Either I go to my LFS and spend $140 to fill up my tank bottom with their special (only kind they say you can use in an aquarium) sand or I go check out Home Depot. Where they just trying to sell their product or is there one special kind of sand that I can only use.
