Alright I have a few questions when it comes to this, I use a like $14 siphon from petsuppliesplus to drain water from my tanks, and to vacuum my gravel and sand. However when I try to vacuum up all the crap none of it really seems to go through into the buckets, it falls back down out of the tube, Ive noticed the same thing in my 150g, I stir the sand up and wait a couple mins to let it settle so all the crap goes to the top of the sand and all I do is suck sand up, and most the crap just falls back down. Is there something Im doing wrong?

maybe it has a strainer that doest let the crap go through....it happened to me and I simply removed the strainer.

It sounds like your having the same problems that I am having. Do you have plecos? I've pinched smaller human turds than these mystical creatures. They must have Felix the Cats wonderful wonderful hat in there rectum to allow for a turd 2X their body mass to pass!

My Nile Tilapia have had turds hand tight at the 12" + mark! WTF?

Love my oscars, but they too seem to have a very large turd to rectum ratio!

get yourself a python runs off your faucet full suction and NO BUCKETS

I have a aqeoun that I hook to the sink to fill it, I tried to use it to drain it etc, but I wasted even more water because the sink has to run to keep the siphon going, and my bathrooms next to my tank so I have to run it full blast.

I have one algae eater in my 55g but with the mess of the oscar in my 150g I didnt get one because I dont need more poo to add to the **** I cant already suck out..

Either cut the tube down a few inches or increase the suction of your siphon by having the end of the tube lower. I had this happen on my tanks until I shortened the hard tube a few inches and started siphoning out my 2nd story window. The suction in so strong that one of my dats has a big round mark on his side from when he got to close to the tube. I don't have to worry about a weak siphon anymore.

I was having this problem too, I just took the large part off of my siphon so its just the hose. It gets all the poop, and also some sand. Its a pain because it doesn't cover as much area, but I've gotten pretty good at it and I'm loosing less and less sand the more I master the technique :]

I tried taking the end off, and use just the hose, but I couldnt get it to syphon, I guess Ill try after I finish my school for the year. My tanks are kinda on the back of my mind right now, because I only have like a week to finish my classes so Ive been workn my butt off. All I have now is english, Ive finished my last 12 math assignments, 10 science assignments, which were very long lol in 3 days. So Im hoping english will be done by the weekend, Im going to have Brittani help me do some of it when she gets back from stateboard for his cosmotology test. But Ill try to figure this out lol
