:WHOA: $200 :WHOA:

Looks like another "solution" to reduce water changes since it "Returns clean, filtered, and detoxified water back into your aquarium".

Looks like a gimmick device, I'll stick to my Python!

Buy 1 and tell us what you think:naughty:

I love gadgets, but this is something you should make on your own if you really want one. And I agree, it is more gimmik than something you will use frequently. When you use the filters and let them sit a week or two (or a month according to the ad), the gunk in them will decay & foul the next water change if they are not cleaned at every use. That is creating more work rather than saving you from it. Good gadgets should not create more work for you.

Dr. Joe has made and been using something like this but without the filters and charcoal. Ask him for the details how he did it.

Do you remember which thread? I would like to build one.

If you are just going to filter the gunk out and return the water back to the aquarium, don't you think just running it to drain is much better? I mean if you go to all the trouble (and it really isn't any trouble at all) to do a gravel vac, why save the water????

Burt:)

Because sometimes on a large tank, lets say 350 gallon salt, you want to just diatom the dirt out,not the water. There is no Diatom filter large enough to do a 350gallon tank. It gets clogged too fast.

not to go against anyone, but i love DIY projects. and i think the gravel vac is ok but it can sometimes be a pain in the ssa. I took a spare pool filter set from my kids aboveground pool rigged up a gravel vac head to the inlet side. i power vac my tanks (3)in less than 2 hours. once i clean the gravel i let the filter run for a few minutes to catch any lose debri floating around my. tanks normally have a crystal clear water when done on a weekly base.
