GRAVEL VACUUM

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks like I'mma stick to my python. I was just curious if anyone ever purchased one. Better ask and then pay the $200.00 and not be happy. Thanx guys for ur input.

Looks like a good idea (the power vac anyway) but i might rig up something with a pump to my gravel vac to get more debris out of the gravel than the siphon but running it to a drain.

I saw one of these on eBay.

The description they use sounds good to me:

HOW I USE THIS MACHINE;
I prefer this cleaning machine over the Python devices I have used over the years (although I have made my own that do not waste the water that the Python’s waste). I use this unit as another tool for proper aquatic husbandry, not as a cure all or magic bullet. I still change 20% + water, the difference is I will use this machine to vacuum and while doing so drain water into a toilet or into the yard (FW). Then after I have changed the desired amount of water, I will then switch the cleaning machine to re-circulate and continue to clean ALL the mulm and debris that will add to high nitrates if left during a normal cleaning. After this I clean the micron cartridge with a bleach solution and I am ready for the next time. All this without the wasted water of Pythons and a vastly cleaner aquarium without the stress to fish of 80% water changes (due to the change in chemistry and other parameters bring) to remove all the mulm.

PLEASE NOTE;

I have used this machine extensively and have tried to see can and cannot go wrong so as to help any one who purchases this machine. I have found it is IMPORTANT to put the pre-filter tower and other parts EXACTLY where the directions state (this machine is color coded and VERY easy to put together), however if for example you swap parts around for the pre–filter tower and the main tower, you will never get a proper siphon.

This all said, this machine is color coded and very easy to operate, it is just very important to follow the directions as stated.

When I used to clean my 55 I would be done with my 25% change and I know there was more crap to clean out of the gravel. An expensive toy but a cool one.
