because it's like a slut. It's dirty on the outside, and no matter what you do to clean it, it stays dirty. Stupid crushed coral. I'll never add that to my tanks again. :screwy:

Dirty dirty girls!!

I just put the pool filter sand in last nite..... it looks awesome but make sure to clean the hell of it. The small particles are floating everywhere. Even after doing a thorough cleaning. I did a 80% wc and its still cloudy. right after work im doing another wc proably 50-60%

Crushed Coral!!

I had Mbuna Cichlids for a while and they never were as active as I was hoping they would be. They never seemed very happy. I tried adding salts and buffering the PH with chemicals, adding crushed coral to the filter but nothing positive happend.

When I removed the sand substrate and went with crushed coral. A whole new life of activity formed in the tank. All the fish where highly active, swimming around more, eating more, just very very active compared to before.

Go with crushed coral and NEVER look back!!!!

Get some 10 micron pads and stick them in your filter. This is what I did years ago and it works to remove the floating sand that makes the water cloudy.

Either that or get a package of the 5 micron whole house filter cartridges and cut the filter matt off of the tube (keeping everything in tack) and insert that media into your filter. This works really good as well
