Gravel vs stability

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the only stability more gravel has to offer imo is for all the decorations to stay in place.

ok gravel does not help you stability we have established that but what about helping keep your filtration free of debris as i remove alot of waste from my gravel each week if i had no gravel in my tank all of this waste that i manually remove each week would end up in my filters? thus increasing the need to clean my filtration more often?
The reason i ask is i am planning a large tank without gravel as i like the look of the clean floor.

thats why i like sand and hate gravel ;) gravel traps so much waste. you will see clearer water w/o gravel or with sand

i have 2 fx5s running a joined spray bar at the top and i will put the outlet of the sump system(when complete) in a spray bar type set up on the bottom of the tank so it creates a current pushing the waste along the bottom towards the inlets of the fx5s, technically should keep the bare glass bottom clear of debris?

yeah in a bare bottom tank you will have very little debris sitting on the bottom. only the heavy stuff that wont float will sit down there. this is easily cleaned during water changes

just off topic i saw ocelaris(ithink)cichla for sale in au the other day what are they worth in the states they had $$$ on them here.
