I have never even considered greasing them. You can just purchase new ones that nice and quiet.

Hmm well i use chapstick. Or hair polmades i used to use waxes but i think polmades like chap stick or murrays last longer. Been doing it for 5 years

My filters are whisper quiet, I didnt start to gease them bastards up till i had issues with a emp 400 it was loud and got a new one it still rattled then i replaced the impeller, it still rattled then i added stuffed the inner rod area of the impeller with chap and it was well quiet.

The ingre read from the back of that murrys **** says Petrolatum, Mineral oil, Parfum is what it says on the back. Can you honestly think of anything less toxic that still has the axelgrease componet. A noisy fish tank isnt worth having in my book. Thats a critical factor is the tank is sopposed to relax me not pullute sound.

100% "food safe" silicone grease works the best!
