Hello,

I just wanted to share my Green Terror with the community. I've owned piranhas and such in the past but this is really the first cichlid that I've owned. He's definitely a character. As you can see in the first picture his fins were tattered from other GT's in the tank with him but I could see the potential. The first picture was taken of him on 8/31/07. The second picture was taken of him on 9/29/07. There's definitely a marked improvement and he's gained a lot of girth.

I feed him Hikari Cichlid Gold, bloodworms, krill, and beefheart. He absolutely loves all of those foods but really tears into the beefheart cubes. I'm definitely looking forward to him developing over the upcoming years.

Thanks for all the great resources that you've all contributed on this forum. It's definitely been a great help in researching GT's specifically.

Brent

wow nice fish great to see hes grown back properly... what a porker whats his diet, looking healthy though.

by diet i mean how often and how much.

Great looking guy, I have one in a community tank and he is about 1-2". I have been waiting for him to grow out so I can put him in my larger tank with the other meanies.

How long does it take for GT's to grow?? He eats like a pig and I feed them every other day

wow! he looks so much better in just one month! and very healthy too--great job with him

Thanks for the replies and comments. He's feed twice a day. The first feeding (at around 8:30 am) is strictly Hikari Cichlid Gold Mini size (about 20 pellets). The second feeding (at around 7:00 pm) is Hikari Cichlid Gold Mini size (about 10 pellets) and a frozen cube of bloodworms, krill (not very often), or beefheart. He's always eaten all the pellets or the cube within 5 minutes max. This seems to be working very well. I think I will keep adding a new picture to this thread on the last day of every month so that those who always wonder growth rates will have pictures to judge by with exact dates. Thanks again.

maybe cut down on the morning feed? i feed my jags 4 hikari pellets in the morning and 4 at night these are full size jags but that is large pellets.

Looking good!
