Its a wonder it doesnt happen down here more often, ( We have ALOT of Gr8 whites in OZ)

The white sharks off the coast of South Africa is the only popluation where this feeding behavior normally occurs.

Oh really. i heard recently that Great whites migrate HUGE distances, so i assumed that all great whites were the same kind. LIke the ones in oz were the same ones going to the coast of South Africa. They just switch between places depending on the abundance of food in that area?

Some individuals do move over great distances. White sharks have been tagged in California and found in Hawaii. One white shark was actually found to travel between South Africa and Australia, I don't think all individuals make trips this far, most seem to have a home range and tend to keep to it. Knowone really knows why they breach, could be a population thing or could be due to the type or food or habitat. You won't find whites breaching like that in any other part of the world though for whatever reason.
