Good morning everyone, first timer from England, Just thought you might be
interested in this article from one of our tabloid newspapers.
http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2007340903,00.html
There has been a few sightings off the coast of Cornwall (South coast)
Seems that they are migrating into British waters. From what I have seen
and read it's a good bet there are a few White Pointers now in British waters.

Typical reaction of the knee jerk press.
By the way English tabloids tend to write like this "DEADLY MAN EATER"
Great white shark spotted of coast, the 20 FOOT MONSTER etc etc
oK, No offense to you personally, I know you did not write this, but is this seriously what they are preaching over there!?!?!?!
This is from the website of which hosted the named article:
HERE are some tips on avoiding shark attacks and fighting off the beasts if they strike.
DONT surf or swim at dawn or dusk, when sharks like to feed.
NEVER urinate in your wetsuit or the ocean sharks can detect it from five miles away and will think youre a fish in distress, a ready-made meal.
AVOID areas where fishermen gut their catch and chuck the unwanted bits back into the sea.
STAY out of the water if you have a bleeding wound.
USE a beacon that disrupts the sharks electro-magnetic receptors, or an Aussie Shark Shield, which emits an electric pulse that makes sharks flee.
DONT clap your hands and bark like a seal. Great Whites often attack humans after mistaking them for their favourite meal.
FIGHT back if attacked. Poke the sharks eyes, or kick and punch its sensitive snout. Sharks dont expect meals to hit back.
SHOVE a gas canister in its mouth and watch it explode (see Jaws on ITV1 tonight for tips).
GRAB a power cable and fry it (Jaws II),
THROW a grenade into its mouth (Jaws 3D), or
SPEAR it with a weapon handily placed on your boat (Jaws: The Revenge).
And these comments left by the readers are even more concerning than the dang article:
Shark is spotted off Cornwall
*No shark will ever attack a dolphin. If you do ever happen to have the bad luck of being in waters with a shark and dolphins, the dolphins will protect a human instinctively. Not something I'd want to try though...!!
*Oh my gosh! I'll definately be shoving a gas canister in it's mouth if I'm attacked!
*
heyy if there was a shark theyd be going opasite ways
dolphins could kill sharts easily and they protect the humans
and the headline:
just when you thought it was safe to go back to cornwall
its a baskingshark every time
*I saw the beast. It looked ominous as it glided beneathe my dinghy in the choppy seas off Cornwall. A huge black shadow. I dumped a bucket of blood over the side and lowered my shark-viewing equipment quielty into the water. Sure enough. The beast returned to investigate the blood. Unfortunately it ate my camera, but not after i was able to confirm that it was, indeed, a Great White of roughly 6 meters in length. Scary stuff!
-----LMAO oh there was more trust me, but those few will do. And no, to be fair, not all of them were rediculous, some presented accurate information in bits and pieces - and I STRESS "bits and pieces" as even those with a slight grip on it, were still lost with misunderstandings and blatently wrong information - of which they were "sharing" to everyone else who read. When it came to the list of things to do on "avoiding shark attacks"... The first few were not too terribly off, presented in a sideways manor possibly, but not completely rediculous... BUT as I kept reading it was getting more and more rediculous, and I was actually laughing, assuring myself that this was just a joke, and the author would make sure his humor was noted at the end.... But it never was, they were actually serious!!!!... Which then took my reaction from laughter - to confusion - to outright disbelief with my mouth hanging open!! This is exactly why we work so hard in this industry - to dispell BS info like that vomit from this article!!! When it comes to whether or not it was a white - ok fine, there was a white belly.... ok well lets be technical here, there are other species with similar marking, to which mis-identifications take place allllll the time, the video that was taken was from a home recorder, and anyone who knows anything about film, can spot a loop or sloppy edit in 2 seconds...there are pieces of that film edited out, and what they actually do show, is far from "in focus", and not to mention FAR away, with only a very slight breach in the end, in already choppy waters, and a novice camera man.... NO I am not at all denying that a white could very well be in those waters, because they are all over the damn place, and with their migratory routes, it is quite possible, and nothing new, or something to be shocked about! - what I am saying though, is that there is room for speculation. However, in the same breath, let me point out that it would not be unheard of, or shocking. But more omportant to me is the information being depicted and the headlines thrown out so carelessly. This is exactly the type of senselss, rediculous media and BS that we work our butts off to counter act and re-educate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
