It looked rounded to me too and thick like a basking shark. I guess we will never no for sure. I would like it to be a G.W. , not many around anymore.
After seeing the videos. It's 100% a basking shark.

Thanks for all your comments, as I said the media here in the UK are not very shark savvy, there has been a few sightings off the south coast some from more reliable sources, deep sea fishermen etc, it would be nice to think that they are around. Incidently the nearest confirmed sighting was in France which is just a stones throw away so it could be possible.

The Sun is a tabloid much like the National Inquirer in the States so everything that is printed in I take with a pinch of salt, the problem over in the UK is that Great White's are percieved as killers from another part of the world and not typically English. There is alot of ill informed information banded about most if not all of it is rubbish. If the tabloids actually did any research into the subject they would in all probability come up with a KILLER MAKO headline as Mako, Blue and Porbeagle can all be found of the South coast of the UK. There are a few of us trying to dispel the myth of the shark here in England, http://www.sharktrust.org/ being one of them. I would recommend a visit to the site to see what you all think.
