North Atlantis Lobster, I think is their official name. Apparently, they can get huge.

And I've love to keep one as a pet in a 100+ gallon... can't afford to chill the thing though, water needs to be colder than 50F / 10C

Do you plan to breed the crays, Yabbadoo? Good luck! They're nice but they're not my type.:D Oh, and I was hoping you and black_sun could hand me out a few references of crayfish for the sticky thread 'Freshwater Invertebrate References'.;)

I'll put up some data on water conditions and basic info etc. for the Australian Crayfish Species commonly kept.
I'll try and get it done by the weekend.....

Got no idea on the U.S. ones....Black_Sun???

You mentioned they're rare. I'm still optimistic you can get the males. Just have to look harder.lol

I can provide basic info (and the associated original sources, if needed) for the basics required for each North American genus. Individual species, well, I don't own them all yet (I will... one day in the far distant future lol) and I haven't come across specific information for all of them yet. But I have decent information tailored to individual species for about 15 (including the most commonly kept and caught). And I can help out with about 3 Indonesian species... lol... not that impressive yet, I'm still working on those, too.

I think the rest of the information and reports I have pertain things like invasive issues, diseases, genetic studies, etc. Not really stuff required for general knowledge, minus diseases perhaps, but I can send you that stuff, too.
