So last night I feed my first batch of cooked shrimp to my guys. I only dropped two baby shrimp into the tank to see if they liked it. The Oscar went tasted it and then swallowed the whole thing. I thought he was going to chock I could see it sticking out of his mouth.

Then my bala's started to fight over the second shrimp. I checked today and the O is still okay so I Guess he got it swallowed.

Should this be like a once a week treat? and should I cut them up?

Depends , if you want to take the time to cut up shrimp all the time then go for it. You should feed uncooked peeled market shrimp though. If he is already on pellets he could reject them because of the tasty shrimp though. If i where you i would keep him on pellets and not make feeding a burdon and keep it simple/rewarding.

I remember the first time I fed my fish some shrimp. I threw in enough for everyone, but the other cichlids hesitated since it looked unfamiliar, however the oscar just instantly attacked it and ate it all before anyone else could get any. He looked like he was going to burst. He couldn't even pick himself up off the gravel he was so full. There was one piece left sitting on the gravel, and he swam over to it and started bumping his face against it trying to eat it, but it physically could not fit in his mouth, since there was already shrimp hanging out of his mouth.

If I were you, I'd skip the cooked baby shrimp and just buy uncooked whole shrimp and roughly chop it into bite sized pieces and toss it in.

LOL gotta love oscars! They can be such b*****ds sometimes, but that's what makes them so popular!

Never thought that I could have a problem getting them to eat normal food. Hum maybe I should not feed them treats? Any one confirm feeding shirp or other treats effected their fish eating normal food?

When my oscar was young he helped it's self to a hand full of prawns in one go. Had to net it and dig the prawns from his mouth....

They will definitely show a preference for treats if you feed them too often. Mine went through a phase where he would not eat pellets, but it only lasted a few days. You just gotta show em who's boss and not give in to their begging for food. Just use pellets as a staple, and mix in a treat food maybe 2 or 3 times a week and you should be fine.
