Green crust type stuff on planted tank glass

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Cover the tank completely, keeps lights off, and feed fish less for 3-4 days. this should help kill the algae. Then clean & vacuum tank.

I hesitate to suggest chemical means, and if those are real plants you shouldn't.

see......this bothers me

suppose this is the cause, then what happens when you turn on the lights and feed the fish normally again????

doesnt work for long term means

you only need a minuim light just to keep the bright enough so you can see what is inside.
not sprut crazy alage. your plants will still grow in the tank just not as fast, same goes for you alage problems.

i have the same problem in my planted tank from time to time. i just put the light on for 4-5 hours then off for 3-4 hours then on again for 5-6 hours. the light break up helps and i scrap with a razor.

i would go with the razor scrapping and a otto. i see from your sig you have amano shrimp, the should help with algae on the plants but not so much the glass

Don't quote out of context, it was a whole plan. It keeps the algae under controll. Could also use a UV sterilizer with it. Just didn't know it was only a 3.7gal. At that point just scrape it off.
